We recently added a puppy to our household and quickly realised we needed to clean our carpets which I'm sorry to say haven't been cleaned since new, 5 years. After days and days spent researching I decided to go for the Shark EX 220. Wanted to keep it simple ie without the accessories but wanted a quality build with a little more power than standard. I started on our lounge area which was probably the most soiled and boy was I impressed. It was so easy to use and had an amazing effect on the carpets. The heavily soiled area will benefit from another clean but overall the carpet came looking new. They were only slightly damp when finished as I went over them a couple of times drying only. Very easy to strip down and clean too. I would advise purchasing extra cleansing solution as the sample bottle doesn't last long. I've not had any leaking problems as reviews of other makes have reported. I'm very pleased with my choice.

I have been looking for a new carpet cleaner for a while, with having pets carpets get grubby. In the past I have had other popular makes both from recommendations from friends, but I wanted to do my research when I bought this time. I have shark vacuum cleaner which I am really pleased with, and also when the battery in my cordless wouldn't hold power their customer service was excellent. So I knew that side of things of needed would be ok. I eventually decided on this product because the price was within budget, I liked the idea of the automatic fluid distribution and that it switches automatically to dry on pull back. It was super easy yo put together - take off the tape, slot in the handle and you're done. The tanks aren't very big but that suits me as it keeps the weight down. I have found putting the tanks on and off a little fiddly getting them in exactly the right place to clip in but I suppose I will get used to them. The machines I have had in the past have been really heavy to push and especially pull slowly but this machine isn't heavy at all, it is also no where near as loud. The cleaning power of it is really good, I like that any hair and debris get trapped in a basket in the waste water tank so it is easy to dispose of the water without sending clumps of hair with it. The waste water tank is really easy to empty - none of those silly tipping it up and down and tilting it, the top clips off, the basket can be emptied (I put a plastic glove on to do it) then it is easy to just tip the dirty water away. The carpet is left reasonably dry, just felt damp to the touch, although I did go over it again with just the dry mode - a couple of hours later they were properly dry. I am really impressed with this, can't really tell the difference from when I had professional cleaners in. I did go over my hall carpet again with just plain water after it was dry to see how dirty the water was a second time and it was much much cleaner. Definitely recommend

I have 2 dogs (and currently a litter of 7 puppies!) 3 cats and 3 children so my carpets get hoovered multiple times a day and washed at least weekly. Ive had 4 Vax cleaners up until now but had Shark regular hoovers because I didnt realise Shark also did carpet cleaners. My 4th Vax caught fire (yes it actually started smoking and acrid burning smell - ive never run so fast out of the house, dragging a carpet cleaner behind me!!) after 2 years of ownership and so I decided to search Shark cleaners. The Shark is amazing!! Lightweight, easy to use and best if all, the hose stays connected with just a flip of a switch to use it (unlike Vaxs faffy thing!) so spot cleans are so much easier! It cleans brilliantly, all comes apart for easy cleaning of brush etc afterwards. The tanks are easy to take off and empty. Its just really nice to use.I suppose the only downside is that the tanks are smaller and so the waste needs emptying more often however I dont think thats a bad thing when the flip side is its all much lighter and easier to manouvre than Vax's heavy thing. Because its smaller it takes up less room and the clean tank can be taken off, turned upside down and stored until next time (if you dont use all the mixed solution, unlike Vax, which if left, pees water all over the floor!) It has an auto wash/dry when you push and pull it, like the Vax, as well as the option of just drying with the press of the button. This came with a bottle of Sharks solution which smells really nice. Im sure you could use an alternative too.Absolutely recommend it and am just annoyed I didnt make the switch from Vax to Shark cleaners sooner.

By far the best carpet cleaner we've had. Even my partner commented on how clean the carpet looks - that's a first. Easy to use, it controls the water spray (so no drenching) and carpet was dry within a few hours. Stair attachment also easy to use although only reached the first 5 steps before having to balance the cleaner going up. As others mentioned, there's a lot of starting & stopping to fill/empty tanks but it's a welcome break on the hands. Solid plastic handle grip was giving me blisters - some light padding would have been nice & something I'll maybe add to the handle myself. Despite the amazing results & ease of use & loving almost everything about the cleaner, I dropped a star for the unexpected mess it leaves elsewhere. My glass table was covered in splash marks (also my mac keyboard & track pad on the table) and the lower part of the TV screen splashed. Had I known beforehand I would have made sure items were covered (see photo of table/TV)
