This trimmer is a beast.
I got it to replace a battery operated trimmer, also from Black & Decker. While the original trimmer worked fine, I realized I needed something more powerful to tackle my long neglected yard. Basically the "yard" has turned into a "field" because what grows out there is not lawn grass. Because I didn't mow it earlier this year, by the time I felt well enough to tackle the "lawn" with my new trimmer, the grasses were thick and as much as two feet tall. Two things I noticed right away: this trimmer is powerful, and it does not get "clogged" with the long stems in the areas where grass has gone to seed. I am writing this review because I needed to come online to check on how to replace the string. Based on reviews I read before purchase, I ordered three replacements spools. I am a 78 year old woman with some arthritis in my hands. It took me longer to open the package than to replace the string. So, yes, this trimmer goes through string MUCH faster than my last two trimmers, both battery powered and both used for several years on the original spool. No complaints. This trimmer does such a good job on the thick, tall grass in my yard that I am very glad I decided to switch to the corded model. .... It is also easier to use because it is lighter.

I cut off the silly wheel
Why did you pick this product vs others?:Great trimmer with loads of power. But if you need an EDGER please buy a dedicated corded edger. Black and Decker makes one. I own it and it works great with a METAL BLADE. A string trimmer would never work for my yard with thick grass. The silly edging wheel was in the way of me seeing where I was trimming so I cut it off with my Dremel 3in circular blade. If all your chores are within 100 feet of your house consider converting to all corded tools. My only battery power tools are my drill and mini chainsaw.

As Darth Vader would say, impressive, most impressive.
Having been used to B&Ds battery units, i wasnt expecting the performance of this corded trimmer. After 6 years of using a B&D battery trimmer, and suffering the last two with battery charging issues, it finally crapped the bed. So i got this, sick of charging batteries and having them last under 10 mins a charge. And if i am honest, the battery units didnt have the power for the tough stuff. This 6.5amp corded unit is a lot louder and more powerful and if you live with St Augustine and or Bahia grass, this unit is the business. It doesn't have the trigger lock like the battery units so be careful, also it uses a two prong cord not the expected 3.It cuts through overgrowth with ease especially if you are edging. The edging wheel is further out than the battery model, so it helps cut through taller st augustine for edging. The only negative is the auto spool. Hence the4 and not 5 stars. I went through the included spool doing half of .12 acres. Luckily i had a spare spool from the battery trimmer, so i was happy they are compatible. The extension cord held in place. Only under stretching the cord did it get unplugged. But watch out not to go over the cord. The trimmer will pick it up quick and wrap it around itself quick. Ask me how i know 😄Assembly was easy, the only screw is for the trimmer guard and its already screwed into the guard so youll have to unscrew it. The adjustable handle was easy to put on after you realize you have to push both sides in on the trimmer to slip the handle on. But after that, it slips on easy.So yeah. Its a great trimmer. Very powerful but it goes through the spool incredibly fast.

Durable - light weight - great buy!
LOVE THIS! I have a bad back and neck, I own three gas weed wackers but cannot use any of them because I can't pull the string to get them to work besides the fact that they're heavier. This is so easy and I feel better about not having to use that smelly gas. It's so light wieght that anyone that has back issues will appreciate. It was so easy to put together, took less than 5 minutes. Using the electric weed wacker to me is so much more safe as I can turn it off and unplug it while I'm moving things around vs using a gas weed wacker. I'm very pleased with this and I highly recommend it.

I love Black & Decker tools!
I have been using Black & Decker products my whole life as my parents had many over the years & I look for Black & Decker tools first when I need something. I actually prefer the corded yard tools & have had multiple weed trimmers (my 1st was battery & I've had 3 corded), hedge trimmers, reciprocating saw, leaf blower, grass trimmer, etc. Corded tools are lighter than battery or gas, they don't require bumping & very little maintenance.I recommend Black & Decker all the time.

We love this Black & Decker weed eater
I don't know why some people don't like this weed eater Black & Decker we love it. Yes it does use up the line but it's cheap enough to buy and you don't have to pound on it and you don't have to wind on it so line it just comes in its own little containers you just place in the bottom of the weed eater and put the red cap over it and you're ready to go again. Easy peasy.
