Hamilton Beach 2-in-1 Countertop Toaster Oven and Long Slot 2 Slice Toaster, 60 Minute Timer and Automatic Shut Off, Shade Selector, Stainless Steel (31156)

My daughter talked me into buying a toaster oven but which one, given so many models are on the market. So I turned to Consumer Reports to see what they had to say. This Hamilton Beach was rated top notch, so I bought it and haven’t used our stove once since. I’ve baked cookies, fish sticks, veggies and more. Salmon fillets come out moist and delicious. The only issue I have is setting the temperature correctly on everything I cook. The temperature dial isn’t calibrated by single degrees but by jump in degrees at a time. 350, 400, 450, that sort of thing. It’s taking me a little trial and error to find just where to set the correct temp but now that I have, no worries.

I had that one just like this a while ago a few years ago and for some reason I don't even remember why I gave it away to a friend and I totally forgot about it until about 2 weeks ago he brought it back to me and he said that he wanted to donate it to my church for the yard sale we're having in July brought other things also for that so I tried it out and as I was using it on and off . I didn't want to keep that one because the right thing to do is to give it to my church the way he had asked me to do so I decided to go and look on here for another one and I found this one and I really love it I will not part with it again unless it breaks down or something but I have a small apartment I only live in two rooms I have very limited counter space and with that in mind this is actually perfect I don't need a separate toaster oven and I don't need a separate regular toaster so it all works out together and it was a win-win situation all the way around the church got theirs I bought mine used like new and everybody's happy.

I like it, and I like that I do not also have to have a toaster, but I wish the toaster oven had a toast option without having to use the actual toaster… I wind up just using broil and flipping whatever I have over

I love this toaster oven. It's so hard to find a toaster oven with slots like a traditional toaster as well as a broiler. It was larger than expected which is a good thing because I can fit more food items in it. It makes for great multitasking in the kitchen, as I can use it for things such as French fries while using my conventional oven for larger items. I haven't had any issues with functionality, it works great and I use it every day. I hope they keep making these, as I appreciate having toaster slots as well as the broiler!

This is the 3rd time, we are buying this toaster over. We love it. I bought it my myself, my mom and brother. It is easy to use and can be used in so many ways. A must have for every small space home.

I got this to replace the older style of the same thing that I got in 2007. My old one was still working but it was starting to toast unevenly so we decided to upgrade.At first I thought that this was too big for our space but after using it a bit I find I like the bigger size. First of all the oven is actually usable where my old one was so tiny I hardly ever used it. The other thing I like is that since the toaster is wider I can actually fit three standard pieces of bread in there if I need more toast.One other thing that this has that my old one did not is a button I can press to disengage or stop the toaster, It causes the toast to pop up and stops the toaster. In my old one I had to push up on the handle which was hard to do without causing the toast to fly out of the toaster. I do find that I have to hold the toaster lever down for a couple seconds to get it to catch. I think it has to have that time to fully engage the toaster heating mechanism.The only downside and this could be a deal breaker if you do not have a lot of space on your counters. The outside gets extremely hot especially if you are using the oven portion. I have to position mine so the cord is not directly behind the unit because it's so hot that I think it could damage the cord over time. I think that they could have added some insulation to prevent the heat from radiating so much out the back and sides of the oven. It gets really hot and stays hot for awhile even when it's off. So make sure you have the room around it to allow for this heat to dissipate safely.

Why did you pick this product vs others?:I love it. Now my counter has more space. The temperature gage is easy to read. No more burnt toast..

3 years later and still using every day and it works just like the first day. Very useful for the kids. I will say best kitchen purchase I ever made. I will buy again if this one ever gets damaged. It doesn’t take so much space on the counter which I like. Buy it !
