Q: Does it keep food color from browning?

Yes. I use it for that very purpose when preparing fruit for drying. I use 1 tablespoon of the product in a gallon of lukewarm water and soak the fruit for about 5 minutes then rinse the fruit in cool water and put on my drying trays

Q: I want to use this to sterilize brewing equipment. Does it need to be mixed with citric acid or just mix with water?

I have been brewing since 1963 never get an infection. 1) Wash all equipment with hot water immediately after use. 2) Rinse in a 5% household bleach solution 3) and allow to drain and air dry.

Q: Is this a product that can be used for plant fertilizer? If so, are instructions included on the packaging?

As a food additive, Sodium Metabisulfite acts as a preservative and antioxidant and is commonly used in wine and beer making. I'm not sure if it can be used in a fertilizer application or not. We also don't have instructions for how to use it as fertilizer unfortunately, we apologize for the inconvenience.

Q: I see the purity is 98.6+%. Can you comment as to the water content?

I am not sure what you are asking. This product is a dry powder and has no water content until you add it. I use this product to sterilize my wine making equipment and have no complaint with it doing that. If it did not do it's job then the wine would not ferment so I know this product works.
