Attractive and fully functional with an ancient design from the 1600's. Its that old. Lovely piece that I enjoy being an art glass collector.

I bought this for my older tiels' area. I am still confused about understanding how it reads the temperature, but it's very decorative. It gives me an idea the birds' "ideal" temps without their arthritis acting up. (My house has different temps in each room!)

As soon as this package arrived, I wanted to open it and make sure all was well. This was a gift I intended to give my friend who had broken her own Galileo Thermometer just a month earlier. I wanted to surprise her with a thoughtful gift. Instead, the tape on the styrofoam was very sticky, and when I was finally able to get it open, the thermometer fell out onto the kitchen counter, spilling the smelly, oily liquid and glass all over. It was a mess to clean up, not to mention a loss of $$ paid. Although the outside packaging was good, perhaps something to hold it inside until one knows what they are dealing with would be nice. For heavens sake, you can't get a child's toy out of it's packaging without cutting multiple thin plastic strips. Why not a glass thermometer?? I had to wash my clothing multiple times. Hang it outside to dry, and finally had to look up a solution on the internet to get the smell and oil out of my clothes. The next week I found a new Galileo Thermometer with thicker glass at Hobby Lobby - no shipping, no fuss - just went and bought it. Only they sold it to me with no box or packaging at all!!! Feast or Famine!

I bought this as a gift and the recipient was happy. It is well packed by the manufacturer and protected. Very clear glass and the temperature discs are easy to see. Enjoyable to look at as well as decorative.

Works great! I just wish they came in a set of different sizes!
