Q: What do you use to write on it?

I tried a sharpie but if these are outside that fades (especially strong sun). I now use a plastic tag marker. They are a bit expensive but they work. I am not good at remembering what plant is what. So labels are important. I live in Florida so the sun is strong here. No problems yet. Here is the one I purchased. Q: Are these marked with a recycling label to recycle after use?

I didn't not see that these were marked with any recycle label. If it was on the packaging, I didn't notice. I recycle everything anyway and reuse these labels year after year, so I don't bother looking for those notices.

Q: could I use a punch label maker (like a dymo) and stick or will they peel off?

These are pretty flimsy labels for the garden. I’m not real happy with them but on other plastic labels I write on them with an intelligible pen, wait for it to dry and then spray it with a clear coat sealer. Works well. I don’t know if your using these inside or out but I don’t recommend them for outdoor use.
