Works way better than expected for the price.
Well you could be forgiven for thinking that one 24bit/192k audio extractor is much the same as another, not so. I already have one running my Amazon Fire TV stick to my 1964 Frank Pram Stereo 30 ultra linear 10 valve amplifier. Although the result was good, I was never 100% happy. After reading several reviews on the web, I decided to but an AV Access 4K@60Hz HDMI 2.0 Audio Extractor Converter, connected it up and wow what a difference, chalk and cheese. Apart from the end sound quality being far better, the output from the unit is higher than either of the other two units I have, so the amp' isn't working quite so hard to produce the same volume. So if you have a cheap run of the mill audio extractor, I'm pretty sure you are going to notice the difference, depending on what your routing it through of course.

Disappointing
On it's arrival I installed the device as per the provided instructions. I achieved a picture with no sound. After several attempts with different settings, still no success with sound so I changed the optical lead I was using, still no sound. While contemplating my next move I turned it on once more with hope that it might work only to find I now had no picture or sound meaning I had spent 30 odd pounds on a door stop. I have since used a competitors device that worked straight out of the box and was £10 cheaper! I can not recommend this device as it failed on every level.

Fantastic for connecting my Nvidia Shield to my old Logitech optical/SPDIF/Toslink 5.1 receiver
Have an old Logitech 5.1 setup that only has optical as a useable option for audio. Nvidia Shield doesn't have optical out. This works seamlessly by splitting the audio out from the Shield HDMI out and provides the relevant optical connectivity. 4k video output remains excellent for my 90" projector output, mostly via Plex.

Works with Xbox Series X!!
Like a lot of people I had a gaming headset that used a Digital Optical Audio cable. Now I have the new Xbox Series X I had to find an HDMI Audio Extractor that can output 4K... I don’t have HDMI 2.1 and my monitor only supports 60hz. I really didn’t know what one to purchase and I had never even heard of an HDMI Audio Extractor until last week! But this product works great!!! I was sceptical before purchasing like many people understandably will but... Set up was easy, detailed instructions and the output is still full 4K resolution. This saved me having to purchase another headset which can cost hundreds of pounds £££.There doesn’t appear to be many 4K audio extractors that support 60hz but this one certainly does! I hope this helps people who are in my position I was in until today.

Splits single HDMI source to optical out and hdmi out
This really works! The sound and video split from a single HDMI source actually works.I have a set of 5.1 speakers which has a small receiver which takes 2 optical inputs. One of the optical inputs is for my PC.The other optical input was for my Ps4 which had an optical out for sound.I use my ps4 on the same monitor as my pc and monitors don't really have speakers. I upgrade to a ps5 recently and it does not have optical out, only hdmi. Using this device I split the hdmi output from the ps5 so the the video still went across hdmi but the sound was piped out from the optical connection on this device to my sound receiver.Hope this makes sense to people who read this.

Works with Xbox Series X
This audio extractor works perfectly with my Xbox Series X and Trust digital speakers. Tried other audio extractors and optical output was inconsistent and broken, optical output from this extractor works perfectly.

Not for Audio Return Channel HDMI Audio Extraction
I should have read the specifications more carefully but post this so others can avoid my mistake. This does not extract audio from the HMDI ARC channel of a TV. There is a technical reason due to the fact that ARC signals are wired differently from standard HDMI.

Passes through the hdmi video and audio nicely, while pulling out the digital audio.
I am using this unit with a 4k amazon fire TV box. Annoyed that amazon dropped the audio output from the new model. Hdmi2 (hi speed) cables required as minimum. Amazon's own basic cables work fine in my set up. I had to set the front switch to 5.1 as pass through didn't work reliably. Suspect that some of the input was 7.1 or other format that my Sony phones Mdr-rf6500's weren't happy with.

4K Fire Stick Split
Wow this worked a treat. I have a 4K Fire Stick which is now my main route to movies. I also have a 5.1 Sony surround sound system with fibre in for sound which the Fire Stick obviously can’t provide. Problem solved I have pass through 4K HDMI for picture to the TV and 5.1 sound to the Sony sound system. Absolutely excellent.

It is good when it is working.
I have used the device to extract 5.1 sound from Nvidia Shield TV to send the sound to a 5.1 sound system (via the toslink) while driving my 1080p projector. The setup DID work for about a week (although it used to be quite fiddly too - I had to power up the speakers before the Shield or it wouldn't detect the sound system). The audio appeared to be proper 5.1 sound.Alas it all went south today, (incidentally, I have installed Android OS update today. A coincidence?). The projector is no longer detected while the signal is routed via the device. I saw a HDCP-related error message once when quickly switching from the device to a direct connect.Oh, and the picture quality was perfect while I've used a shorter extractor -> projector HDMI cable (~1.5 m). I saw some pixel noise (only on the black colour) after upgrading to a fancy shielded 10m HDMI cable. Direct connection does not show any noise. Can the "hdmi-out" be somewhat under-powered?Overall, I'd suggest for you to try your luck with something else.

HDMI 4K Audio Extractor
This is a great little unit. Had it set up in 5 minutes and it works perfectly. Power adapter included and just plug and play. I used it with an Apple 4K set top box to get surround sound.Don’t forget to set audio in Apple TV settings to output 5.1! Recommended

PS5 compatible
This is a great solution if you have a next gen console and need an optical audio output for your headset/audio system. This works perfectly with my Stealth 700 gen 1 headset, not only do you get the chat/game mix back again but you get DTS 7.1 surround back in your headset so games like warzone sound how they should.

Firestick saviour
Works great with firestick 4k and sorts the 5.1 issues. Shame it has only 1 hdmi in

Excellent product, just be careful how you connect and which cable you use
Works perfectly. I had some issues with the retaining pin for the input HDMI port being out of alignment and it damaged the HDMI cable - just be really careful when plugging in any cables. Another big caveat is you MUST use HDMI 2.0 cables to connect to your output otherwise the output will be unsupported. All in all, incredibly easy to use and does the job it is meant to perfectly.

Works well and easy to use
Works well and does exactly what it claims: separates the audio from an HDMI source so it can be played through a different device. I couldn't notice any image degradation either. Easy to set up, just plug in input and output cables and power (make sure cables are HDMI 2.0 though). Solidly built and small enough to hide in my TV set up.
