Great product!

Going to post before coloring after coloring and then after color oops. The reviews were mixed but I took a chance. Firstly, the smell was a bit smelly, but no smellier than a perm, so I used a wax melter and couldn’t even smell it in my room after, day 2 and my room and hair smells good as new. I had no itchiness or pain or tingling on my head or areas it touched. I applied and left it in for 20 minutes as advised, used the gloves, it came out nice and even though my hair had lightened kind of patchy after black box dye. I was previously platinum, dyed it black box dye, and am now at a kind of natural copper color. I’m pleased. I have medium length (below the shoulders) hair, and it’s quite thick so I used two boxes and it was a perfect amount, I left it on for 20 minutes after it was fully saturated. I rinsed and shampood for 20 minutes as advised then took a shower shortly after and shampood again then conditioned. After that I was very pleased with the results and would use again opposed to bleaching.

Did the job but at a price

I had dyed my hair burgundy a while back and it had faded to a kind of pinky-red. I wanted to transition to a blue-based color. Typically, I bleach my hair over the color and it works just fine, but this time my bleach test was a little rough so I decided to try Color Oops for the first time. I wish I'd just stuck with the bleach. The Color Oops worked, my hair is back to looking as if the red was never there, however it came with a steep price. First, the instructions are to rinse your hair, wash with shampoo, then rinse for 15-20 minutes, shampoo again, rinse for 5 minutes, shampoo for a third time, then rinse another 5 minutes before applying conditioner. I was in the shower for nearly 45 minutes. Two days after using it, my bathroom (and attached bedroom) still smell strongly of the chemicals, despite opening the window and running an air purifier for nearly 36 hours plus two liberal rounds of Febreeze spray. I could even smell it on my hands despite wearing the provided gloves. While washing it out, my hair felt very brittle and rough. Thankfully this has subsided but I was actually pretty nervous for a while about the texture. Also, while washing I noticed two small chunks that had turned green. This has also thankfully gone away.Last, I ordered the listing that said "2-Count" but only received one of the product. In the end though, I'm thankful for that in a way because I can't see myself ever using Color Oops again.Edit a few months later: I've knocked it down from 3 to 1 star because I believe Color Oops contributed to the failure of my next hair dye. I used the same brand I've been using off and on for a decade and had my first bad experience with it. I waited a few days after using the Color Oops even though the box boasts that you can recolor the same day. The color came out uneven and extremely light. After a couple weeks of being increasingly annoyed and disappointed, I decided to just do my normal routine of bleaching the color out then dying the next day. I did the same color again and it came out ten times better. I can't completely prove it was related to the Color Oops but the coincidence is too strong for me.

Okay, it works—but the smell? Yikes.

So here’s my chaotic hair journey: I’ve been bleaching like crazy trying to get that beige-blonde-ashy vibe… but ended up with an orangey-brown “whatever” shade. In a panic, I slapped on a level 6brown ash to tone it, but instead of cool tones, my hair turned burgundy eggplant purple. 😩 Total disaster—and my hair is already super damaged. With an event the next day, I had no time. I ordered this color remover overnight, applied it immediately, and… it worked! It pulled out most of the purple and brought me back to a lighter orangey-brown shade. Not perfect, but at least I didn’t look like a plum. Now the catch: the smell is awful, especially after wash. Think wet rotten eggs with chemicals in a sauna. But honestly, for a product that saved my hair from disaster in under an hour? I’ll take the stink. I kept the product for 25 min only as my hair is pretty damaged a nuddles look when wet.Followed it up with Keracolor conditioning dye (3rd image)—and finally, I can breathe again. Not originally wat i was planing, but crisis is over and I will be okay with dark honey woody mode :)

It works OK on my hair.

My hair has been through a lot. Before this, I bleached it about five or six times and then, almost two years ago, I used a black gray-hair-covering shampoo to dye over it. That black dye was incredibly persistent, even though I only used it once. I wasn't sure if Color Oops would even work on something like that, but I bought it to try anyway.Turns out, my hair didn't go back to blonde, but it did change from a dark brown/black to a reddish-brown. I'd estimate it lightened by about two shades. As for the smell, I honestly don't think it's that bad. I had read so many reviews about the strong odor of this product, so I was ready to open all the windows and everything. But it really wasn't that extreme. It's not pleasant, but the smell is definitely tolerable.I think I'll give my hair a break for a bit, and then I'll try the extra strength formula to see if that helps even more.

Great product

I’m not sure why this product has mixed reviews it works great on my hair & is a staple go to for removing color. I typically have black colored hair but seldomly want to dabble in lighter colors and this has never failed me. Sometimes you need a toner after but that’s completely normal. Mine usually lifts to a very pretty caramel brown tone. I have messed up my color and had to use it again working the same week and no harm or damage done to my hair. Can’t say enough good things about it.
