Essential Elements 2000 for Strings, Cello Book 1: A Comprehensive String Method (Essential Elements for Strings)

I can’t imagine a better start than this book. It’s carefully thought-out and reader-centred, very initiative in how in introduces new concepts and to me that makes all the difference.After three lessons with the teacher and a lot of practice with this book, I can play basic songs in D Major and read music.This book is impressive.

Sensible approach, quite detailed info on position, technique, fingering etc. I’m a complete novice, hoping to be able to play modest melodies with a pleasant sound. This book would seem to provide what I need.

It's fabulous. I am self-teaching during lockdown and it breaks learning down so well I am really enjoying it and have just bought the violin one to help a very frustrated violin player!Short, achievable tunes and good online support too.

Have just started to play cello and this book was recommended by my teacher. Useful CD to help with tempo and what the pieces should actually sound like, although I understand that it won't run on every computer. DVD too, though not used that.Easy to follow with good diagrams and explanations of bow hold etc. Large clear musical notation. Some familiar tunes (we're playing Christmas carols in May...) which encourage new players as they know the tunes.Recommended.

This is a great book for begginers

A cello student I knew liked the book. She stated that it was a solid page after page sequential set of instrutions. I think, however, one cello teaher or more?? complained that the author incorporates using the 4th finger so early on the cello. I don't know. The students I know never complained.

Good primer for students, comes with a dvd which goes a bit too fast for a learner. Need to transfer the disc onto English format as its American so wont play.
