A Godsend!
First, a little medical history. About ten years ago, I began to suffer from gall bladder attacks. The HIDA scan showed my gall bladder was functioning at about 10% capacity, so out it came. I did moderately well after recovery, though I suffered from bouts of diarrhea when I ate anything to fatty. I was told that was normal. Fast forward about five years and I began to suffer from digestive difficulties again. This time the issues seemed to be bloating, gas, gerd, nausea and diarrhea. Following an episode of blood diarrhea, I was given a endo- and colonoscopy. They found over a dozen polyps, a couple of which were pre-cancerous. I seemed to be better following their extraction. I was told I dodged a bullet. Fast forward to the last year, and the digestive difficulties returned again. This time much worse than ever before. I couldn't eat anything without suffering from extreme bloating and gas, stomach pains, diarrhea of the "Oh, God, just kill me now" variety, horrific nausea, and now dizziness and rapid heart beat. My BMs were pale yellow and greasy. The GERD was almost unbearable. I finally got online and searched for "problems digesting after gall bladder removal" and found out about ox bile supplementation. I bought these after a little more research, not really expecting too much. Nothing else had helped. But I have been very pleasantly surprised. In fact, fingers crossed, I might even say that I have cured myself! The first time I took two pills with a Subway sub my only food for the day, and was delighted to find that I digested it pretty easily and without very much gas or bloating. The next time I took them with my wife's homemade chili. Although there was some gas-- probably the chili-- and I did spit up acid once from the GERD, the pills helped me digest the chili without too much difficulty. I think I would have been fine if I had taken two pills but my wife has been watching me like a hawk with these pills for some reason and I only took one. Guess she thinks I am going to overdo it. Today, a big greasy burger and potato wedges. I said what the hell and took three. Although burgers really seem to throw my belly for a loop, my stomach chewed it up like a champ with only very mild burping. No gerd. No nausea. No bloating. No diarrhea. Today, for the first time in two weeks, my stools were normal colored and somewhat firm, rather than a greasy, explosive mess. You normally shouldn't expect quick results with any kind of supplement, but the ox bile works directly on aiding your digesting, and the effect should be immediately evident if you are not producing enough bile to digest your meals. I have decided to take one of these for a snack. Two for a larger meal. And three with my problem foods. Fried chicken. Fries. Pizza. Nuts. Hamburger. Although I tend to eat lightly, I do not follow any specific diet plans. After years of stomach woes, I have shrunk my stomach and only eat one or two things a day. I basically developed an eating disorder. I still can only eat very small meals twice a day. But at least those meals are digesting properly. I finally have some relief. My symptoms following all my stomach problems were SEVERE. I mean, there were times I thought about killing myself. But these pills really seem to be the missing puzzle piece that I have been searching for for a while. I wish my doctor had suggested I take an ox bile supplement with my food following my gall bladder removal. He would have spared me ten years of unending suffering and unpleasantness.

No Gallbladder + Constipation = Need This
Most folks have diarrhea after gallbladder removal, because the excess bile produced that would usually store there is just constantly dumped into the intestines. For some, like me, however, we have the opposite issue: constipation. This has something to do with the liver producing less and less bile, and the gallbladder performing less and less. Usually the gallbladder dumps when fat is detected in the meal. However, if you got suckered into the high-carb fad of the 90's then you probably ate very little fat. Without much fat in your diet the gallbladder doesn't exercise and dump as much. This leaves it full of bile that stagnates into stones. I switched from a high-carb diet to an Atkins protein diet... and that's when I got gallstone attacks. My gallbladder had stagnated for so long it was just full of stones. My liver had also stagnated, and stopped producing much bile. I had my gallbladder removed in 2001, and since then it was a downward spiral of health issues. I slowly gained weight (200lbs to 300lbs). Joint issues, allergies, fatigue, constipation (which eventually turned foul as bacteria overgrew my system)... the issues mounted. Doctors told me it was because I didn't exercise and was gaining weight. All of the research I did pointed to fatty acid deficiency. I craved fatty foods, so I ate them a lot. I didn't digest very well, so I was bloated for hours after a meal and burping it up and not wanting to do anything. I was gaining weight, so obviously I was digesting fat in a way to store it, but I always felt like I wasn't getting something from my food. I'd eat lean meats and felt like they were cardboardish, like they were missing something. (The fat I was craving). So, one day I decided to get some bile supplement. Turns out it's a pain in the rear to find it (no health stores want to carry it for some strange reason). But, it was what I needed. First, bile is digestive aid that helps your body process fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins in a way that it can use them instead of just store them. Likewise, bile is part of the digestive system's flushing process. Without it, the normal bacteria in your system starts to get out of control. (Exacerbated if you're taking probiotics). The main problem with this product (as some have stated) is that the dose is very high. 500mg is a lot for some of us, as we end up with the runs. 250mg would be great, but they don't make that dose. I've tried other bile supplements (cholacol, etc) and they just don't work like Nutricology's. I take one 500mg capsule once a day, trying to dose it with my fattiest meal. I also take all of my vitamins at that meal (since it helps utilize the fat soluble vitamins). One pill is enough. When I eat lean meat now I no longer feel like something is missing, and I no longer crave fat and tank up on it (which was an overcompensation method of the body to get something it was missing). My body flushes itself out, so bacteria is kept in check and i no longer suffer when eating fermented foods. Food digests in a timely manner, so I'm no longer bloated and burpy and immobile for hours on end waiting for it to digest. Energy level is up. Mental clarity is up. Fatty acids and fat soluble vitamins are critical to health, and you don't realize that until you've been suffering with deficiency for years. I sometimes run out of the supplement, and forget to order more. I don't notice an immediate issue. Instead it's a matter of a month or two that I end up on this downward spiral ... I gain weight, don't digest well, start craving fat, overeat fatty foods ... and I'm wondering why I feel so miserable. Then I remember I stopped taking the supplement because I ran out. I order more, it shows up, and within days I'm feeling better. It's ridiculous that my liver has decided to shut down production so much that I need to take a supplement, but at least I'm one of the few that knows what's going on and has found a fix.

Not for me... at this time
Ok... back story is this. Gallbladder was removed over 2 years ago. The one thing I’ve struggled with is pain in that area - off and on and to varying degrees. A year or so ago I took serrapeptase and it worked miraculously. Seriously try that for any scar tissue pain you may have! My sinuses cleared and all my scar tissue pain from the surgery was completely gone. However it did come back. Hello COVID-19!!! I began drinking everyday and therefore eating unhealthy and putting on the pounds. My gallbladder area started screaming at me and my bowel movements were getting worse and more frequent.I went on a low calorie diet and stopped drinking as much. I was losing weight but the pain lingered - which lead me to internet searches and this product. I was convinced it was a cure all and just what I needed - but also knew to go slow. I started with just 1 pill with a meal that had fat. It didn’t seem to bother me and the pain did seem milder. So I upped it to 2 pills for heavier meals, like dinner, that also had more fat content. Then all the trouble started. I began getting horrible indigestion! My chest was tight and my back hurt. And I felt like I had a ROCK in my stomach. I was hurting worse than before I started taking it. I was belching with my morning coffee and I hadn’t taken a pill since the previous day at dinner.I am still fairly young - 33 years old and only about 15 pounds over weight. I don’t think this product is for me right now. I may need it in the future and I would be willing to try it again. But for now - its only causing more damage.
