Q: What is the depth of the baking dishes?

13x9x2, 8x8x2.5, and the little ones are 1 cup.

Q: how common is it for these to shatter? I see this all the time. How can such a dangerous product be sold?

About 15 years ago I had one shatter after taking it out of the oven. I had placed it on top of the burner with a pot holder under it. About 4-5 minutes later a loud popping sound. My mac and cheese & glass pieces were all over the stove. I still use Pyrex and have not had it happen since.

I believe the actual, accurate dimensions (and I really wish I knew this when I bought it), are 9.5" by 17" with the big handles included. Very important to know this if you have a convection oven/microwave to be using these in. The handles made it not quite fit in my huge GE Monogram convection microwave - has to sit askew inside, and would've fit great without the handles protruding.
