Q: I see from reviews that the lid is not amazing - is the cup comfortable to drink without the lid?

Hi. The cup comes with lid and metal straws. The cup is good. I love the 20 ounces size. So yes, you can use the cup and put a straw through the lid even.

Q: Can someone explain how to get under the closure slide to wash it?

The slide isn't attached, you can pull it off and it goes back on, the silicone feet that make it slide also makes it stick to lid

Q: Can it be used for bicycling?

As long as it fit your bottle holder. It could still leak if it fell over.

Q: Has anyone used it for beer and does it keep it cold??

I have only used it for ice water and the ice has lasted from 12-18 hours, depending on how much I put in it.
