This is a really beautiful journal with nice quality paper. I’m really happy with it and I am usually pretty picky about paper. I recommend it for watercolor. It’s thick enough to do gouache on it as well. Nice value for sure.

Although small this sketchbook packs the punch. The paper handles watercolor and gouache paints beautifully. Excellent versatility and portability.

This is a nice little sketchbook with thick pages nicely bound. I work with gouache and the paper takes it nicely, a sooth surface but not ultra. I agree with a reviewer who wrote it was hard to make a watercolor wash or blend. I agree. I paint in layers, and for anyone using gouache, it takes a thicker consistency best, that is, better to not be too watery. I'll probably buy another of these, maybe a larger size. Also, the cover is very nice and there's the very useful elastic band.

I adore this little sketchbook. I got the small square one this time after I had bought the bigger square ring binder version before, with which I was so impressed also. I am turning it into a wildflower journal. The cotton paper is amazing for my Shinhan and Daniel Smith watercolors. The colors look very fresh and vibrant on this white paper that has just the right amount of texture for both loose and super detailed work. I highly recommend the round 8 Princeton Aqua Elite brush! It’s better than a tiny line brush for detail work due to the extremely fine point that keeps its point after loading it with paint. Many brushes don’t. With this one brush you can easily do an entire painting without switching back and forth between brushes. Used in this sketchbook you truly get better results. To me the paper and brush are what counts the most, not so much the paint itself. You can get great results with bargain brand paints, too! Get this sketchbook and enjoy!

For the price, this watercolor journal is amazing. Paper is 140 lb cold press, 100% cotton. Great quality for the price. But was really surprised me is that the rings open and close, so you can easily remove, insert, or re-arrange the sheets. I have not seen that in a watercolor sketch book before. The size that I prefer. And easy to carry for your nature hikes. EXCELLENT!

If you're looking for a pocket size book for watercolors, seriously buy this. The paper is lovely - nice random texture, very thick, and you can paint on both sides. Wish it came in a larger size like maybe 7 x 10.

Wanted a new square watercolor journal to just paint in for swatches and smaller paintings. I have a smaller square journal that completely has it's binding torn apart from trying to make it lay flat. This seemed like an appropriate solution.When I purchased it, I thought it would be smaller - but after re-checking it is true to dimensions. The material isn't arches, but it's performed well so far with the few paintings I've tried. I'm delighted with the fact that I can easily take out the pages and I'll be able to refill it when I'm out.So far the covers are in-tact, but I could easily see it getting scuffed if you throw it in a backpack one-too-many times.Good for the price-point. Go for it!

This is a top tier watercolor sketchbook! I could not stop painting in it. I 100% recommend. The fact that it's 100% cotton means that it's archival, too!

It's pretty, paper is nice and thick, absorbs ink and watercolour and copic markers super well with minimal (if any) bleed to the other side.

It is a very cute size. I am able to carry it everywhere and alongside my mini watercolour brushes and paint chips, I can do watercolour anywhere now.
