AWESOME!!! Better than K740!

I rarely write 5-star reviews, because I understand how bell-curves work. To be 5 stars means that an item is exceptional. This Cherry Keyboard IS.My old Logitech Illuminated Keyboard K740 is getting really old. I tried to replace it about 5 years ago, but I couldn't find anything worthwhile to replace it with. Well, circumstances caused me to look again, and after some internet posts mentioning this Cherry KW X ULP, I decided to give it a go. I'm REALLY glad I did. This thing feels quality all-around. It's hefty for it's slim profile. It's got a clean, jet-black metal face, the classic white letters are wonderfully illuminated and pop with crispness. The keys feel wonderfully sleek and responsive to the touch. Keys snap into place, but do so smoothly, like a high-end old typewriter (but with much shorter key travel). It's classy looking, full-size, easy to type on for those of us made to take typing lessons on full-sized keyboards in youth, and just all-around great.I've paired it via bluetooth and USB to my laptop. Both works great. I paired via bluetooth to my android phone, and it worked wonderfully too! I haven't tried the dongle, and don't really plan to since 2.4ghz always gets interference from my other devices, but so far connectivity is excellent. Zero complaints whatsoever. There's nothing I DON'T love about this keyboard. It's all I was hoping for. It's actually WAY BETTER than my old Logitech k740!Two things to note that SOME might find unappealing (though I am perfectly content):1) The function keys are defaulted to the media-control/shortcut functionality. To use the actual FUNCTION keys requires holding the FN key. To swap this, the press the key combo FN+CTRL (not the same as a lot of other keyboards). I Hope that helps.2) It's a very loud, clicky keyboard. I love it. Very positive feedback when typing, both tactility and audibly - but I understand that isn't for everyone.

Great for office work and gaming

The (almost) perfect keyboard for my use cases.I think I fit into a somewhat unique scenario.I used laptops for a very long time and grew accustomed to silent, low-profile keyboards. After building my first PC, I bought a gaming keyboard. And since I was mostly using it for gaming, it worked great. The problem came when I started a new work from home job. For work I often have to do a lot of typing, and I quickly started noticing a lot of fatigue on my hands while using the traditional, mechanical gaming keyboards.I went and got a regular keyboard with scissor switches, and I was good to go again for typing, but since I was now into gaming, I learned firsthand about key ghosting, and it was very annoying/frustrating during gaming sessions. Do note that I am not a competitive gamer. But even with games like Borderlands and Minecraft, I was able to notice this.I started buying a ton of keyboards and now I have a collection of about 10 different ones. Including the G915 by Logitech and the Corsair K70 which are both low profiles. The issue with the K70 was that I got two and they both went up in smoke. So, I decided not to go with Corsair again. Since the G915 is a gaming keyboard, I don't have the key ghosting issue. It is also better than a regular mechanical keyboard in regard to hand fatigue due to its lower profile, but I still get it.Eventually what I ended up doing was having two keyboards. The G915 for gaming, and also an MX Keys for work. But it's a bit inconvenient having to switch keyboards depending on the task.Recently, Corsair came out with their K100 Air, but due to my bad experience with their products in the past, I was hesitant. So, I was really glad to come across this one here.I just received it yesterday at about noon. So, I have been able to use it for work for about half a day and I haven't run into the hand fatigue issue yet. Though I must admit that the keys are a bit stiffer than I would prefer. I think the listed actuation force is 65cN (just over 66 grams) whereas I'm used to the Logitech brown switches at 50 grams. I was aware of this before purchasing, but I still wish they took less force as they feel a bit stiffer than I'm used to/prefer.I've used it for gaming a bit this morning and have not yet run into any key ghosting issues, so I think we're off to a good start. So far, I'm pleased. It's also a bit louder than my Logitech MX Keys, but this is a mechanical keyboard after all, so it is expected as well. And it's not (in my opinion) too significant.I should note that this keyboard does not have RGB, with the exception of the FN, Caps Lock, Num Lock, and F1-F4 keys. Those change to a different color, other than white, to indicate that the key is active. I personally don't care for RGB, but I figured I should point it out since it's something that most gamers are into these days. There's also the Cherry Keys software for Macros and the like. I don't make a ton of use for this sort of thing, so I messed with it a bit and it seems to work okay, but again, it's not something I mess with much so my expertise is limited.Overall, I think it does provide the perfect mix for gaming and work so far, but time will tell.I decided to record an unboxing video and give my opinion on it, but I am not an expert on this matter, and it is a bit long. I might try and edit it a bit and if I feel it's decent, I may upload it as a video review.I'll come back and update this review if I find anything new over the next week.
