I feel a bit sick now
First bit was alright. A good, intriguing anti-capitalist premise. Unfortunately it's then the cinematic equivalent of staring into the compost bin in the kitchen of the pub I work in.Not sure what the point is of doing loads of really cool claymation and stuff, if the overall tone of the film is just kind of really aggressively sticky and gross..in the sort of weird swingers-group-in-the-village-over, who are probably all in the masons, sort of way. Can't tell if I enjoyed it. I think the whole unnecessarily aggressive metaphor for capitalism at the end probably describes the director's relationship with capitalism more than anyone else's. I expect he refers to himself as an auteur. Saying all this, I kind of liked it up until it went really aggressive compost bin at the end.Put me off my tea. Sort of liked the effects. Next time will stick to just rewatching videodrome over and over.

"..CRAZY 80'S CLASSIC.."
Review for the Duel Format Blu-ray-DVD setThis is yet again another amazing Arrow films release of an old 80's classic, Society is seriously one messed up film and that's no exaggeration, it probably has one of the strangest storylines ever and one of the craziest endings ever, Basically the plot is about a boy who lives with his extremely wealthy parents in Beverly Hills, now he's a teenager he's started to have crazy messed up visions about his mum and dad and sister and starts to feel something's wrong with his life and his family, the more he looks into it the more he discovers the truth about his so called life and the lies he's been fed, and the shocking truth comes out! The story really builds up well and keeps you interested and confused about what is happening, the real action is saved for the finale of the movie but its worth the wait, its a real gross-out ending with plenty of messed up things happening, the gory practical effects look fantastic for the time even now they are pretty sick, this is certainly one for the horror shelf, a fantastic 80's gem, directed by the brilliant Brian Yuzna who has done some great movies over the years like Return of the living dead 3, Re-Animator 2-3, Progeny, he's one of the great masters of horror, the cast in this movie is great too and the music score, its an all round classic, check this limited edition out now before they are gone!!The Blu-ray picture looks great in HD,Features..Newly remastered 2K digital transfer of the film, approved by director Brian YuznaHigh Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentationOriginal Stereo 2.0 audio (uncompressed PCM on the Blu-ray)Optional English SDH subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearingBrand new audio commentary by YuznaGovernor of Society a brand new interview with YuznaThe Masters of the Hunt a brand new featurette including interviewsFeaturette with FX artists Screaming Mad George, David Grasso and Nick Benson2014 Q&A with Yuzna, recorded at Celluloid Screams FestivalBrian Yuzna in conversation backstage at the Society world premiereScreaming Mad George music videoCollector's booklet (22-pages)Society, The official comic sequel to Society, reproduced in its entirety in a perfect-bound book (56-PAGES)Brilliant packaging with embossing around the skin faces etc,Blu-ray REGION FREE ABC, DVD REGION FREE 0, 99-mins, 1989.English language, English subtitles.

If bodyhorror...
...tickles your whipple, then Society is definitely for you. Directed by Brian Yuzna, Society shows what happens in the upper elite of Beverly Hills citizens. Young William, who shares his life with parents and one sister, finds out that people he's known his entire life are of a different species than human. He must now uncover as much truth as he can and escape from the shunting.Fantastic special effects by Screaming Mad George. Hand through the rectum, out through the mouth anyone?

Ewwww...
A bit of a mess plot-wise and with some rather on-the-nose satire, Society still ends up being a fun time thanks to a willing cast and a few twists that keep you guessing just what the hell is going on. And that's to say nothing of the icky climax... let's just say, you'll never look at Play-Do in quite the same way ever again. If you think you can handle the few dull spots and the explicit yuck-fest at the end, go for it.

Rubbish
Boring, don't waste your time watching this, lacks any depth, dull and quite frankly disgusting. Tries to be poignant and fails. Yes i get it, the rich are an awful bunch, there are way better horror movies that illustrate this message in a better way.If you like sticky slimy incestuous gloop, then this movie might be for you :)

Definite cult potential
The film begins in a cheesy 1980's made-for-TV way and five minutes in I was left wondering why I ever ordered it. Then slightly odd things start happening that got my curiosity. Gradually the film manages to get odder and odder until the finale when it goes completely over the top, It might have been seriously gross but the sheer silliness of it all keeps it watchable and fun. The film flirts with a whole variety of genres - comedy, teen romance, horror, thriller, gore, political satire and who knows what else. In the end it doesn't quite fit any of them and one is left slightly bemused but definitely entertained. Well worth watching.

Cult classic.
This is a cult film. It isn’t acted very well, and the story isn’t great, and the ending is disgusting. You will probably want to turn away, but will simply scrunch up your face in disbelief and continue looking anyway lol. They really don’t make shock horrors like this anymore!

amazing release, gorgeous transfer
Arrow do it again; amazing release, gorgeous transfer, packed with extra features. The film was incredibly interesting, with a strong story, campy acting (not necessarily bad however), and an interesting underlying theme and story arch. Even if you don't enjoy the movie, do yourself a favour and stick around for the finale; having read reviews promising a grotesque ending, it did not disappoint on any levels what so ever.
