Half Yard Vintage: Sew 23 gorgeous accessories from left-over pieces of fabric

I bought this book for my mom. She is a very talented sewer and quilter, and always has scrap fabrics! Today she came over and brought me a present, this sweet glasses case! She loves using up scraps, and I love getting presents, so it worked out.

When Debbie Shore writes a book she does it with flair. The items in this book are just charming and very easy. She does not include patterns but uses every day items such as plates to make simple ones. No problem. They are 1/2 yard items but of course other things are needed such as lace, etc. Her instructions are clear and her photos are very sharp.

The book is good, but if you already have other books of that type, it is not a wise addition to your collection. The ideas were less original than expected.

This artist really is a study not just in ideas and tecniques, but style and presentation as well.

Cute book, but I would not recommend getting this book on kindle. There is no easy to to print the templates with the correct size.

Pros: quite a few projects and some useful ideas to try out. Inspiring in this respect. All looks so pretty in the pictures.Caution: intermediate sewing skills need to accomplish some of the projects. Knowledge of skills in other crafts is very useful as mixed techniques are used and these skills tends to be taken for granted.Cons: some of the instructions are not straight forward to follow. Some items on the picture but instructions are missing.Practical: tried out a few projects - some came out well and looked similar to the book pictures and others are in the bin. I am an intermediate level user of a sewing machine and able to use a variety of techniques used in crafts related to fabric.

A fab selection of interesting projects for a range of skill levels using easy-to-source fabric - in fact, often you can use remnants to make them. Instructions are clear (it includes a useful technique and tips section) and accompanied by superb photos. Great value - and great fun to use.

Fabulous book, 23 projects hard to choose which one to start with. Quick makes , the book is well presented and explains makes for beginners to accomplished sewers. Debbie Shore's books are for keeps with fabulous projects and results. Also very on trend ideas.

Another great collection of ideas from Debbie. In my opinion, this is her best "Half yard " book, along with the Christmas one. So many things I want to make! Many are quick and simple but will make great gifts, and can be adapted for different uses. Equally, different fabric choices can give an entirely different look. Absolutely something for everyone!
