Yes, it's totally possible to do. I did. If you are not comfortable with measuring the screw hole spacing, tape a piece of paper over the existing holes and use a sharp pencil to "pop" the holes where the screws go. Flip the paper over (left to right) to make sure you are "mirroring" the hole placement and tape it to the other board. Mark the holes with a pencil. I used a scratch awl/punch to tap the pencil marks to make starter holes for the screws. You could drill them but you risk going too deep or too big of holes.
