Decent little figure
Another great Core Class figure - loving these as a fully grown up (?) G1 Transformers fan. Small, reasonably priced, still fairly complex transformation and a good likeness to the original G1 cartoon.I prefer the Soundwave, Skywarp and Ratchet in this range but this is still worth getting. appalling quality
One arm kept popping off and the sword broke after a few minutes of play. It’s not robust enough for a toy. My son was very disappointed.

Very small and difficult to manipulate.
Not as big as I thought it would be and quite hard to fold back into a car or robot, instructions are hard to follow, especially for a child.

So small don’t worth it’s price at all.

Okay for the size
Hot Rod is the final Core Class figure from the ‘Kingdom’ toy line. It has been a mixed batch including, understandably, smaller characters such as Vertebreak and Rattrap and scaled down, simplified versions of others that have already had figures released under the ‘War for Cybertron’ moniker, such as Optimus Prime and Megatron. Hot Rod doesn’t fit into either of these groups (although there is a ‘War for Cybertron’ figure for his later incarnation, Rodimus Prime).Hot Rod is one of the weaker Core Class figures. This mainly results from him having a transformation that is just a little too clever for its own good. For a toy this size a simpler transformation would have probably suited it better, much like that of the ‘Kingdom’ Core Class Soundwave.Although it can be a tad fiddly the transformation isn’t a bad process. It just results in a poor robot form. The dimensions just don’t look quite right due to the factors involved in his transformation. His chest is a little small and all his limbs appear to be out of proportion. The upper arms are basically twice as long as the lower sections that end in some quite tiny, almost indistinguishable, fists. He also has quite spindly thighs (which only just support the weight on the ball joints) in comparison to the substantial lower part of the legs which have an unsightly amount of paraphernalia hanging off the back of them. He isn’t the easiest figure to stand, but that is a general weakness of the Core Class. The whole figure also feels a little cheap in terms of quality. The vehicle mode is far better. It is certainly a close enough rendition to easily be recognised as Hot Rod’s Generations 1 vehicle. Its only issue is again due to the transformation. It is reasonably tricky to get the panels that form the bonnet, windscreen and part of the roof to all fit into place. Pushing one panel down tends to make another pop up. However, with some perseverance it does work.Hot Rod comes with one accessory. Oddly, it is some type of sword rather than his more typical pair of blasters/pistols. Although I like Hot Rod to have the two guns look as it just seems to suit his character, the sword sort of fits in with the WFC Rodimus Prime figure and the Sword of Primus idea. It is also nicely detailed and can be mounted on the vehicle in two positions.
