Attention LOMO types! At under $19, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with this creative little camera.
The media could not be loaded. Update: Got my second one, did a story about it on Wisconsin Public Radio and now they are gone at this price. Hope to hear from other users at my site sillycatvalley. I've added a video!###Along with my “normal” digital cameras, I am a connoisseur of oddballs. Sadly most cameras for kids are either not good quality or just plain boring. This camera is the exception. With no name on the camera and an honest “5.0 MP” resolution, one might not expect much. (The 8 MP in the title is via interpolation.)But the camera has a decent lens, a generous set of menu options and good controls. It claims to be waterproof, but I would treat it more as water resistant ( A later model has thicker gaskets). Note that even the best waterproof cameras or housings can fail if the user does not maintain them properly and most people do not know how to keep them from leaking. This may explain some of the NOT WATERPROOF reviews. Also, this is a 19 buck camera. The camera uses 2 AAA batteries (I’d prefer larger AAs) and stores to a MicroSD card. The card storage, batteries and non-standard cable connection are all under the tight rubbery sealed battery cover.Poking around the menu revealed some fun options. Along with ISO and resolution (which can be boosted to 10 MP via artificial interpolation) there is sharpness, color saturation and “effects.” This last part is where it gets interesting.Chances are you may not be in the “Harinezumi” camera crowd. These folks fork out $135 and up for a digital camera that looks like a 110 film cartridge and is meant to replicate the look of cheap 110 photos as well as cheap Super 8 movie cameras. These cameras and other oddballs such as the “Sun & Cloud” solar-charged camera ($89.95) have odd filter “looks” far beyond black & white and sepia. This camera has them too:Aibo, Gothic, Japanese Style, Lomo, Red, Blue, Green, Pseudo IR, Binary. There is one called “dog eye,” (another camera says "god-eye") but like a few others, I do not know if it is really implemented or just left on the camera menu from another production run. (These cameras seem to have a “J100” camera on a chip circuit board, but I cannot find out much more.).As you can see, this is a very funky camera, good for both a curious young person or an adult who enjoys arsty Holga/Lomo type cameras. The silent video is OK too, but I have not used it much to pass judgement. Perhaps with the special effects, it could also be fun! There is no software included, but there is abundant free editing software on the net. My site, sillycatvalley, has an article about five free ones that run offline. I use them all the time.At under $19, it’s pretty hard to go wrong with this creative little camera. I'd grab one before it gets "discovered" by hipsters!

It is okay
It works fine, but my two years old soon can not see the pictures. I had hopes that he would stop to ask for my phone since he only wants to take pictures.

NOT WATERPROOF DESPITE WHAT THEY SAY
This camera was advertised as waterproof, which is why we bought it for our 5 year old daughter to have fun in the pool. The first time we took it in the pool lthe camera got lots of water inside and no longer turns on. Unfortunately I bought it well before her birthday and apparently can't return it. Really upset. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT.

This camera is NOT Waterproof.
This camera is advertised as being "waterproof", so we bought it for our 5 year old daughter's birthday. The camera worked beautifully, that is, until it got wet. The first time our daughter took the camera into the pool (in about 1 foot of water), the camera stopped working. Upon opening the battery compartment, it was full of water, and only after removing the batteries and letting the camera dry out completely, did it even turn back on. This camera is NOT waterproof, and we are returning this for a refund. Such a disappointment, and try explaining to a 5 year old why her camera no longer works after getting it wet when it claims to be waterproof.

Three Stars
drains battery quickly, and screen is low res, but otherwise exactly what I expected.

Works well, doesn't zoom in very much
This camera is lightweight and compact. I wish it took bigger pictures. I've learned to get closer to my target, but sometimes wildlife won't let me .

Perfect
Bought this for my son and I to use at the pool and it's perfect. Got some great shots and wasn't worried about my son playing with it by the pool since its waterproof. It worked even in the 5 ft area. Great camera.

Bought this for my niece for her 10th birthday. ...
Bought this for my niece for her 10th birthday. I assembled it myself, she took it in the pool to take pictures, and it immediately stopped working. When I opened the battery compartment it was full of water. There is no damage to the seal, and it was closed properly. Working with the company now to get a replacement, and I'm really hoping we don't have a repeat issue. Will update again.
