A nice soft yoga mat that's also grippy
I need a good bit of cushion underneath my feet and knees when doing yoga, and this mat is nice and soft. Combined with a gaiam yoga mat towel, it's perfect for hot yoga.

Great affordable yoga mat
I am usually a Manduka fan (and I still am.. Lol) but Manduka can be pretty pricey, I just didn’t want to cough up the 100 plus bucks right now, and I needed a new mat pretty quick. This mat is very affordable, has good grip, and great cushion. I recommend highly!

Good mat, thick, plushy, grippy, comfortable; but pricy
This "Gaiam Yoga Mat" is a good one, especially if you do not need to haul it around, if you just going to use it at home. It is 6mm, extra thick, so when you rolled it up, it is significant in size; so, if you need to carry it back and fro to yoga class etc, this may not be the best choice. This mat is well made, it feels like a premium product. It worked very well too, very grippy, give me the confident that it won't slip on my while I am attempting some of the more "challenging" yoga pose. I generally use this in my carpet'ed exercising room, and this is very comfortable, of course; while the few times I used it downstairs on my hard tile floors, I still feel that the thickness/softness/padding is sufficient (to me).The only slight negative thing about this is the cost, definitely not the cheapest, while the quality of it probably is justification for its price. It comes with a "lifetime guarantee" (I don't really think I would need it, but its good to know that at least they are making a claim that they will back their products), and it also comes with some "free online yoga class" (which I haven't got the chance to look it up and try yet).Thank you for reading this review, I hoped that this review & the pictures are helpful to you in support of your purchase decision.

Soft supportive padding; durable; a bit bulky
I got this yoga/exercise mat because I’d like to start practicing yoga more regularly and needed my own mat. Until now I’ve never had one of my own so I always borrowed one from my mom, who is a long-time avid yoga practitioner, for the occasional group class I’d attend. But now that I’ve decided to commit to it I’d prefer to use my own. This mat is really thick, much thicker than any I’ve used before, but I really like how that feels during an exercise so far. This thicker mat seems a lot heavier than thinner ones so it makes me believe this mat seems more durable and built to last longer than the others IMO which is beneficial but on the other hand I don’t like how it feels somewhat cumbersome to carry/store/travel with which is an inconvenience for when needing to bring it back and forth from gym to home again. Unfortunately it doesn’t include a carry case of any kind however the manufacturer recommends one on the product description page so it might be useful to look into that soon. What I think is really cool about this is that Gaiam provides access to some free yoga instructional practice videos available online which is really nice and helpful especially for me since I’m only starting out this new endeavor and having reliable resources for assistance while practicing on my own at home is encouraging and I’m very excited to try one as soon as I can.Overall I like it; I only wish there was a way to tote it around more conveniently.

6mm thick - this is the way
A 6mm thick mat is the thickness I look for in a yoga mat, anything less is too thin for me. I have sensitive wrists, probably from being a gymnast as a kid. Anything thicker, and you're probably looking at an exercise mat or stretching mat, not a yoga mat. This is a middle of the road quality mat, not what I would get for a serious yogi. I got it to use when I'm visiting my daughter at college, and she uses it also. I like that I can fold it in half and roll it up, so the bottom of the mat doesn't touch the top of the mat when I roll it up. This keeps the top surface clean. I also find this mat easy to wipe down.
