Makes A Huge Difference To Shure MV7 - Fits Like A Glove!

I recently purchased the Shure RK345 Black Foam Replacement Windscreen for my Shure MV7 microphone, and I am beyond pleased with the results. This windscreen has significantly improved my recording experience in several ways.Firstly, it's phenomenal at eliminating plosives. No more worrying about those harsh "p" and "b" sounds ruining my recordings. Secondly, the audio quality has noticeably improved. My voice sounds clearer and more professional, making this windscreen an essential upgrade for any content creator. Lastly, although the foam isn't thicker, the design smartly positions your mouth further from the mic, which naturally helps in reducing unwanted noise and breath sounds.Overall, the Shure RK345 is a fantastic investment for anyone looking to elevate their audio game without compromising on the original feel of their Shure MV7. Highly recommend!

Must have accessory for MV7 users

Like many other reviewers, I bought this to complement my Shure MV7. It is a fantastic improvement that immediately and significantly reduced the effect of plosives caused by speaking in close proximity to the mic.I am a professional videographer and have extensive audio experience, much of which is recording voiceovers for video. Previously I've used rather expensive condenser mics and I have to say I was quite happy with the results. But then I came across a YouTube video review of the Shure MV7 and I thought I'd give it a whirl. Going straight into the PC through USB and bypassing my digital desk has it's appeal, in particular freeing me more easily from the studio by not having to pack a laptop, audio interface, pop shield, stand, shockmount, headphones and xlr cables as well as the mic. The MV7, with it's built-in shockmount means I can take just the mic, a USB cable, headphones and a stand. However, on first receiving the MV7 I was disappointed with how it handled plosives using the stock windshield. A quick google later and I came across the RK345, which I bought immediately.I was surprised to see some negative reviews on Amazon, with some reviewers saying their windshield kept dropping off, that it was too long for the mic, or that it was made of the same material and thickness as the stock windshield. This has not been my experience at all.The windshield that I received is of an obviously differently constructed material, darker in colour and several centimetres longer than the stock one. One reviewer mentioned that he had cut the plastic collar and a few millimetres of the foam off so it fitted more snugly on his mic. I'm not sure that was such a wise move. If you look at how the RK345 fits on the SM7B (for which it's designed) you'll notice the SM7b has a grille that extends several cms past the diaphragm. The grille on the MV7 is very close to the diaphragm. When you put the RK345 on the MV7 it takes your lips the same distance away from the diaphragm as would be the case on the SMB7. By cutting the collar and some of the foam away, your lips will be the same distance away as if you used the stock windshield. I suspect that would negate some of its benefits. Of course, this is only relevant if you speak very close to the mic. If you speak 18 inches away the plosives will have little effect anyway. As for it constantly falling off, I have just narrated a 70 minute documentary over the course of a day, and it didn't drop off once. It isn't a snug fit on the MV7 but it's enough to not fall off on its own, even when I'm swinging the mic boom to the side. I would guess that an elastic band around the base of the mic would resolve any such issues anyway (and not be seen). As for how effective it is at reducing plosives, I would say it's night and day compared to the stock windshield. It's as good as the best traditional pop shields I've used, and even these are only wholly effective when used by an experienced voice artiste who can minimise plosives through technique. All in all, I am surprised to have read any negative reviews and I wonder if people's expectations of what a windshield is capable of doing might be too high. When used by a narrator who has a modicum of mic technique, this windshield makes a noticeable difference.Personally, I think it is great value at just under £20 and I recommend it to any MV7 user.

The essential MV7 pop filter!

After seeing many comments online, I bought one as the pop filter that comes with the Shure MV7 is not the best at handling plosives up close.Fitting was a doddle and it's quite snug, but not as to do any damage. The RK345 is also a lot longer than what is needed as well having a plastic ring which is redundant on the MV7.I decided to use scissors and I cut the plastic ring off, and after some careful trial and error, progressively trimmed off more foam until I got it to the length it is now. With the plastic ring removed, the pop filter fits much better, and looks more like the original one. Plus I'm getting a much better sound with reduced plosives from the mic. All in all, it's an essential purchase if you're planning on buying the MV7.

As described, just expensive.

Nothing complicated here. It’s a branded foam sock that fits your expensive Shure microphone. But it’s just a bit of foam and costs far too much vs what it warrants. They’re able to charge this knowing that their customers have some money to throw around. But it seems very expensive for what you get. However, there is not a wealth of alternatives. It does what I expected just rather expensively. This is NOT a night and day upgrade to the Shure MX7 as a way of improving a pop filter despite what some reviews would say.I still have to have the microphone off to the side of my mouth as before.

A Good Fit

I have this on a SM7 lookalike, and it fits perfectly. Does the job well too, better than the windshield which came with the microphone - much better for reducing plosives and such. Also a lot easier to have on the mike than a mesh screen filter, although I have one of those handy too...just in case.

Perfect for the Shure MV7X too!

Most of the reviews are for the Shure MV7 (USB + XLR), but I can confirm this also works just as well for the Shure MV7X (XLR only).
