My turtle is happy

I went with this large turtle bank because the suction cup one I've been using couldn't cut it anymore. So far I'm liking it and my turtle seems to love it. My turtle is about 6" and the bank has room for him to move around and adjust. Took about a couple of days for him to finally get the courage to climb the thing. The first couple of tries of him climbing was difficult for him but once he figured it out I noticed every time after that he knew what the trick was to get on.So far so good. The magnets seem to be holding up. I haven't noticed it (the magnet) falling off or whatever. Seems to adjust to the falling water level just fine. Also seems to hold the weight of my turtle just fine for now unlike the suction cup one I've been using where the whole thing mostly sank when my turtle got on. But as my turtle will grow bigger I'm sure I have to upgrade. But for now I'm happy and my turtle is happy as well.Buying this on Amazon was way cheaper than buying in store.

One of the best things I've bought for my turtle tank!

I love this turtle dock, but more importantly,my turtles love it! I previously kept a slope of river rocks leading up to a large rock for a basking area. This was a problem because it took up a third of the tank, and uneaten turtle food and waste would settle in the rocks. I wasn't getting my tank very clean without pulling everything out and starting over every time I changed the water. This dock solved the problem and freed up extra tank room for my turtles to swim. I couldn't be more pleased! My turtles are on it all the time, and I'm sure I will order the large one once they outgrow this one. I love the fact that it adjusts to any water level, and I can place it anywhere in my tank.Be aware that this item floats on the water, and the magnets just keep it from drifting around. You can't put it up above the level of the water and have it stay put, so it isn't suitable as a ledge for frogs or snakes.Thank you Amazon for fast shipping and the best price I could find!

Leaks and has weak magnets, Avoid....

The stupid thing leaked and the magnets were incredibly weak.It floats because it is hollow and full of air. When it leaks, it fills with water and no longer floats. The point of entry for the water, (wherever that it) is so small that taking it out of the tank and trying to shake/pour the water out is impossible. Eventually, it gets full of water and will not float at all. My remedy to this issue was to drill holes in the bottom. That way, I could lift it out of the water to drain and then it would float for a couple of days before I had to do it again. Also, the magnets are incredibly weak. I used this with a 55 gallon aquarium so the glass was not extremely thick or anything, The magnets would constantly fall off.Im just glad I didnt pay retail price for this.

Has pro's and con's

The first one I ordered from Amazon came broke in half but replaced quickly. I have a baby southern painted turtle and he really seems like to like it. I'm worried about the magnet strength when he gets bigger as he's only about 1 1/2" right now. I did by the large so I did not have to purchase another has he gets bigger. He's in a 45 gallon Octagon shaped tank and fits quit well. So far so good, he can easily climb up on it and likes to bask on it. Only downfall for a big tank is it being so big is casts a very large shadow underneath it making pretty dark under it so it's hard to see him. I think I'll need to add another light to you can see him. I would recommend this right now as a baby turtle. Might update when he's bigger and see if it lasts!

Turtles love this!

I have two hatchling turtles and decided to buy the large turtle bank rather than the small and upgrade later. The ledge does sit out of the water a little high for them, but we weighted the front down with small river stones to dip it in the water more. They both have no issue getting on the bank anymore. The magnets are strong and hold it in place in the corner of the tank. I am not sure what amount of weight it will take once my turtles get a little larger. I believe it will hold them up to 4-6 inches. At that point I'd probably look into an above tank basking area because I think they'd be more pleased with that. It looks real clean in the tank since it doesn't have any wires or suction cups. Works great!

Has flaws

The rock is great while it floats. I have had the rock for about 6 months and the concept is great. The rock is hollow and will eventually accumulate water inside. This is what will cause it to sink as others have pointed out. The fix that I came up with was to drill a small hole on the top right corner to empty the water out. This seems to work well. Now I just empty it out once a month and everything seems fine. The only other thing I would like to point out is that the rock is now emitting a strong smell (almost like a strong toxic paint smell). So now I am worried that this could harm my turtle. I took the rock out, scrubbed it and let it air dry to see if it would help with the smell. I will update my post if something bad happens to my turtle.

Loving it so far!

I used to have the floating turtle bank that attached to the aquarium with suction cups, but my RES kept wedging himself in and detaching them. So external magnets seem like a much better idea... The large fits perfectly in my 20L tank with room to spare for him to swim around, and because I don't have to worry about the suction cups anymore it's much easier to clean. I read some complaints that people's turtles were able to move the bank around enough to make the magnets fall off, causing the island to float around, but I haven't had this problem yet. Even if it does happen I feel like I can easily fix the problem with stronger magnets. The seller was very nice, fast, and responsive, and when there was a problem with my original order they immediately sent a replacement. The pricing is competitive.
