We've used this for 5 yrs now for holidays. I make specialty mac & cheese to bring to Thanksgiving. At Christmas it's Ziti in the large container and meatballs and sausage in the smaller containers. I take the food fresh from the oven and put them in (on hand towels, we're talking 350 degrees here). Then the pack is heated up to go on top. Zip it up, and it stays piping hot for a couple hours. If it will be longer, I put it in a doubled up set of insulated grocery shopping bags (the kind with a zipper). One time dinner was delayed and it was 4 hrs. The food was still so hot we had to wait a bit to eat it after dishing up. If you have food that needs to stay hot or cold safely for a while for a picnic, celebration, etc. This is what you need.

The Good:Sooooooooooooo convenient, and the price is in the right place. I was going to go with Anchor but this was cheaper. It also comes with hot cold packs so one side can be hot and the other cold. I also love the borated glass. Very temperature resistant. They can go from hot to cold to hot again. They can take a good wack without shattering. I've had good luck with separating hot and cold items between the upper and lower compartment without too much heat transfer over an hour or two.The Bad:Not super easy to clean the bag. It doesn't seem like it should go in a washing machine. The large dish is shallow so the lid will never fit on correctly, so just plan on this leaking every time you use it. As long as it's not super liquidy it should stay inside the bag, but it will need to be cleaned. I usually bring this from the oven to pot lucks, so it has a good 3 hours to go from hot to warm. The packs may help extend that time, but this won't keep things hot all day. It's more to keep it together.The Ugly:Nothing is so bad that I wouldn't recommend the product. It's great for extending your Pyrex collection and gaining a convenient means for travel.

First of all, quick and to the point the product works as described. I love the dish covers and they fit securely and don't come off until you remove them yourself. A lot different than the glass tops that can slide off when transporting. I had bought a separate carrier from Rachel Ray that I had tried first with these dishes and well, it did not keep them warm at all, I am sorry to say. So, the following week when I had to participate in another potluck I went ahead and used the carrier that these dishes came with. I heated the inserts twice as it said to watch for it to expand, though I never really saw it "expand" nonetheless I went ahead and heated each one twice in the microwave then put each one in the carrier and then put the dishes in the carrier. Approximately 2-3 hours later when I had to take all three dishes out of the carrier they were all steaming hot as if I just had cooked them. Big difference from a week before when I used the other carrier. And about 4 hours later the carrier with the inserts were still warm to the touch as I put back in the empty dishes as I headed home. I have only tried this product with items I needed to keep hot, I have not tried items that I needed to keep cold. The most time I can account for the carrier staying warm would be 4-5 hours, I haven't needed anything past that time allotment as of yet.

Perfect addition for our holiday needs. I don't usually need to take hot food back and forth anywhere except at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Potlucks pop up frequently, and I tend to make big batches when cooking for a crowd. This puppy allows me to cook multiple items in cookware that is microwaveable - if necessary. The glass baking dishes that come with the bag were not really necessary additions to my kitchen, but I do like that I don't have to worry about my French White pieces disappearing or breaking at the office. The bag itself is made of quality material, and the zippers seem like they will last. I have transported chicken casseroles and mac & cheese that stays hot all the way through my hour-plus commute until people are ready to eat around 11 or 11:30. The only thing I do wish was different would be that the inside was moisture resistant. A quick wipe down would be the only requirement to clean up after a spill (didn't use the top on the big dish once when I made too much, and I had a few leaks from using tin foil instead). Otherwise, it doesn't what it's supposed to do, and the little heating pads keep your food warm. Make sure to remember to place hot underneath the food (heat rises) and cold on top (cold sinks).

Impressive carrier with plenty of storage space. I love to smake meat, but I live in a condo. This means that I often have to travel back and forth toting my wares from my place to my parents home where my smoker resides. These carriers have kept my food secure and appropriatly hot/cold depending on stage of preparation. The two smaller containers are great for side dishes or smaller portions of meat. They are bigger than they look though. The larger container can easily handle cut racks of ribs. They are dish washer, oven, and microwave safe. I would recommend covering with foil rather than the plastic lids in the oven though... not sure if the lids are oven safe or not, I just figure better safe than sorry. Overall I have no complaints and have purchased 2 of these sets and additional larger containers for this carrier so I always have the right size to fit my needs. The top section of the carrier has a velcro divider that can be moved to allow a larger container (same size as the bottom) to be used in place of the 2 smaller ones that the set comes with.
