Works!!! Best Nutsedge killer.

Couldn't been more happy with this product. After trying out (unsuccessfully) many other products all well known from our home improvement stored this one actually works as described. Just follow the instructions and you will see your soon to be gone Nutsedge turning yellow a couple of days later. I didn't' mow the lawn after the application for 5 days and you can now clearly see where I missed a spot. The treated Nutsedge stopped growing and turns yellow. I guess it will kill the plants from inside out and I don't mind to do another application (which I will do anyways to get the ones I missed).

works great

I don't know where the nutgrass came from but it has taken over my flower bed and is in the grass. I was frantic about getting rid of this and tried the natural way of taking the dirt out of the flower bed so far down and then waited. It came back with a vengence even though I was careful about getting all of the "nuts" out of the dirt. I found that Sedgehammer was recommended and tried it. I sprayed heavily as I had a large area. It really works as stated. I will have to spray again since there is still a little green left after a month. It said in the instructions that if the area was infested with the nutgrass it would possibly take 2 sprayings. I have gotten more to spray our lawn.

Effective control of nutsedge, though the -cide designation might be stretching it

My lawn has been infested with purple nutsedge for several years and the only herbicide that is able to control this plant is SedgeHammer. I first used SedgeHammer a couple of years ago and did not have good success because I mistakenly added an anionic surfactant to the mixture. SedgeHammer requires a small amount of a non-ionic surfactant to be mixed in solution to be most effective on nutsedge. This year I used one tablespoon of liquid dishwashing soap (with non-ionic surfactant) and one tablespoon of isopropyl alcohol (70%) in a one-gallon mixture. I applied the herbicide using an emptied Formula 409 spray bottle and it has worked very well for me. The nutsedge stops growing immediately, and in just a few days it begins to turn yellow. Within a couple of weeks the plants brown-up and disappear. (I am hopeful that the SedgeHammer is killing the tuber at the roots as well; guess I'll know for sure next year if the plants do not re-emerge.) One reason I use a hand-sprayer to apply the herbicide is that it is important to fully wet the plants. So if you are battling nutsedge in your lawn or flower beds, I recommend the use of SedgeHammer to control it.Update, August 11, 2016 -- At this point I've been battling the nutsedge in my lawn for about 10 years. SedgeHammer is effective at controlling nutsedge, meaning that a few applications during July and August will knock it back to the point that it disappears from my lawn, but I have little evidence that it actually kills the tuber and root system. I believe the tubers must be able to resist the herbicide to an extent that they are able to sprout again the next year. RoundUp herbicide has been effective at killing the entire plant, but I would decimate my lawn if I went after the dozens and dozens of nutsedge plants growing there. So I've resigned myself to spending about $30 per year in my continuing battle with this scourge.

Impressed

I have battled nut sedge for three or four years. Anything that was safe for the rest of my grass did not work at killing off the nut sedge. So a few times a year, I would sit and pull them indidually, a real big pain, but this really stunts it and it has to use a lot of energy to regrow. I could shrink its spread, but could not completely get rid of it. I was reading in a couple of university reports about red and yellow nut sedge, why it is so hard to get rid of, and how to control it. In them they mentioned SedgeHammer as an effective post-emergent. At first, I was skeptical that if it was strong enough to killed that damn nut sedge that it wouldn't hurt my grass. I applied as directed and two days later, I was thinking that this stuff was not really doing much to the nut sedge, just like all the other junk stuff I have tried, but at least it didn't kill my grass. A week after spraying, I noticed it was yellowing and had stopped growing. At two weeks, it was all tan and dryed out, tip to ground, and my grass was not harmed at all. I started out a skeptic and now I am IMPRESSED!

There's better out there

This product did NOTHING for the nutsedge in my yard, other than barely yellowing it three weeks after application (and no effect from a second application). When I tried to return it, the seller refused because I had used the product. So much for customer service and confidence in what you sell. I then purchased the Bonide sedge killer and it works GREAT, killing the nutsedge within a week. Buyer beware. Bonide 069 Concentrate Sedge Ender Weed Killer, Pint

Excellent results

I almost never use weed killers. I prefer to just coexist. But nutsedge was making me crazy. I tried pulling but it came back faster than I could pull. I nuked an entire section of my yard with roundup and re-seeded. But the nutsedge came back! I used Sedgehammer and after a month, I'm pleased. 80% of my sedge appears dead and the lawn is fine. I'll spray again to try to kill the survivors.Be sure to follow instructions....It's getting too hot to spray now unless the weather is right.

Did the trick

I live in Phoenix, and this product came recommended as a good tool for killing weeds in the lawn. Ordered it from Amazon, and sprayed it on my lawn. About two weeks later I noticed a significant number of the weeds were dead. Now, more than a month later, all of the weeds are dead, and they have rotted down to the roots. I apparently have one type of weed that this doesn't target, but I'll find some other herbicide for that one. I'm not an expert at this, but I was extremely impressed!

works slowly but does the job

The product did kill the nutsedge it just took a full 15 to 20 days, It doesn't appear to work in the first few days. I did however notice the grass was not growing but still green. At about 15 days, the grass started to yellow and then die.
