Monster Digital Overdrive 3.0 External SSD (SSDOM-0128-T)

I purchased this ssd from Amazon to use it as my primary location for Photos.app library.I didn't realise it is so small, and it is very small and light, which is good. It is 1/4 of the size of standard USB 2.5 HDD.The ssd works very fast, although I have noticed one problem, which doesn't concern me, but could concern others.While copy to and from speeds are very good, when there are a lot of open sessions to the ssd, it slows down dramatically. For example, it is impossible to use it as a ssd for torrents or any other p2p downloads. I don't know why, but the speeds are much slower than any other ssd in my possesion. Also, when I tried to watch movie from this ssd, it was not watchable (long load time, a lot of stops during playback).Now I am using it as my photo library backup and it works fine.Again, when it comes to copy to it and copy from it with standard Finder or Explorer tools (I am a mac user and using Finder), everything works like a charm, and when you are using some kind of download software (like utorrent, or any other which supports a lot of downloads at once) it could potentially be a pain.By the way, if this matters, I have formatted it to OSX extended Journaled partition, because I use it as main primary Photos.app library location, maybe speeds are affected because of this.

This product was so easy to use, hooked right up to the included USB 3.0 on my computer. It is incredibly lightweight, almost deceivingly so. The included encryption software is simple and easy to use. Only downside was it took a very long time to encrypt the drive using the included software, but in its defense I did encrypt the whole drive with 1 partition. I like the fact it is set up for multiple users account, so that each person can have their own privacy. All in all great buy.

I bought this drive on special for 35 bucks. The drive works really well on all files and transfer rate is very good for a external ssd. It worked on everything but video files that I loaded and it won't play on my Blu-ray player usb port because of the ssd format. This is a small drive that I will use as a backup drive on my computer just in case I need to restore my main drive or I may use it to store family pictures.

I found this unit on sale and figured why not? It isn’t bad. Using CrystalDiskMark, I clocked 134.5 Mbs Read and 29.5 Mbs Write. The unit is tiny and weighs only a few ounces, obviously very portable. Just the kind of thing for packing with your computer travel kit.Jerry

Easy to carry but lacks the high speed i expected from a ssd. The casing feels sort of cheap but the plastic does his job keeping the weigh at minimum.

Unless you're rocking a computer with USB3.0 or 3.1 you'll basically be getting a normal external HDD. Sure it's got nO moving parts which would in theory provide longer life, but even in my laptop's 3.0 port I was peaking around 22mb/sec, not even a fraction of the advertised "SSD speed" it boasts. Not worth the price. Not even a little.

The speeed is not as fast as expected. It is very slow, even I doubt that it is only a USB 2.0 not 3.0...

Great package, product, arrival time and price. Where else are you going to get 128gn at this price! No where. I also like the size, I do not loose it, it is the size of a smaller phone. I have 2 and write on it with permanent ink so I know which is which.
